Dave Bell had developed a loyal following during his years in the construction industry. Even after he had left they continued to come to him due to his wealth of information and knowledge on quality products. Dave therefore decided to contact his old suppliers, and set up shop under his own name: Dave Bell Electronic Equipment LTD.

Dave Bell Electronic Equipment LTD sources and sells only the highest class of construction electronics and lasers. They also calibrate and repair all of their own equipment. Based in the Bay of Plenty, you'll find Dave Bell electronic equipment stocked in all serious trade tool stores from Invercargill to Whangarei.

THE CHALLENGE

WHY DAVE BELL CAME TO ZEALD

Dave knew that web sales were the way of the future. He understood that there was a place for retail stores, but online shopping would get his business in front of a much wider audience. It would also allow customers to take time comparing products and prices from the comfort of their own home. Unfortunately, the website he already had didn't seem to be working. It was generating very little traffic and even fewer sales. Desperate to unlock his online potential, Dave went off in search of the experts.

While attending a Zeald seminar, it was explained to Dave how we could work with him to increase visitors to the website to maximise sales. He was particularly impressed at the way we could measure the success of the websites we had built. Our reporting function offers in-depth analytics and displays sale metrics in easy to understand graphs. He was intrigued at the option of having multiple landing pages (while measuring the effects of each) and the option to have a dedicated point of contact at Zeald. After reviewing an audit of his existing website, Dave agreed to let Zeald help him out.

Dave was after a way to attract more customers. He had a solid group of loyal clients, but was looking to grow. In order to achieve this, he wanted to drive more business through his website. The website he had was having trouble attracting customers and, therefore, online sales were simply not happening.

The issues Dave was experiencing were all too familiar to the team at Zeald. The first hurdle an online store will face is being visible online. You can have the best website around, but if it isn't popping up in search results, customers won't find you. The second hurdle is getting people to stay on the website, and make a purchase. If the content isn't attractive and the design not user friendly, visitors will hit the 'x' and move on.

To solve these problems the team at Zeald suggested a website optimisation programme with a focus on Google AdWords to start off with.

#2 STREAMLINED REDESIGN

The website that Dave brought to Zeald was quite basic. The foundation was there in terms of content, but the website was slow and buggy. A re-design was well overdue, and Dave knew it would be the best decision for his business. He requested a professional, clean and modern looking website with a focus on product images. The design team at Zeald delivered on what was asked, with a high tech looking homepage and user friendly shopping experience that worked as intended.

ONGOING IMPROVEMENT

Dave was blown away by the fresh, modern look of the website and the influx of new customers. In an effort to deal with the newfound attention, we suggested incorporating Unleashed Integration to deal with his vast inventory of products. Unleashed Software is a third party product that helps businesses manage products and transactions as well as automating a lot of the admin process. Despite some teething problems with this at first, Dave was happy to have a dedicated support person on hand (a single point of contact within Zeald) to help get things sorted.
